The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department reported the arrest of four people on felony drug charges late Friday night, when a pickup truck was pulled over in the Wheatfield area. A press release from county law enforcement stated the truck attempted to evade police by turning the vehicle’s lights off. Inside the vehicle were 32 year old Michael G. Hughes, of Rensselaer; 47 year old James R. Elliott III, of DeMotte; Jeana L. Morrison, age 35 of Wheatfield; and, 33 year old Casey L. Dunn, of San Pierre. A search of the vehicle took place, and all four were charged with possession of methamphetamine and the misdemeanor charge of possession of paraphernalia. Morrison faces the additional felony charge of possession of a hypodermic syringe. The press release also states that it was determined that Hughes was the driver of the pickup, but that he switched places with Dunn, because Hughes was driving while suspended.
