The Washington Huskies have hired Arizona Wildcats’ Jedd Fisch as their new head coach, after the departure of Kalen DeBoer following his move to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The 47-year-old Fisch became a top candidate for the Huskies’ spot after DeBoer departed earlier in the week; per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Fisch was the only candidate to “engage” with the team after their initial conversation about the head coaching role. Additionally, Washington athletic director Troy Dannen posted a video which shows him brining the school’s contract to Fisch’s home in Tuscon to officially sign-on as new head coach of the Huskies.

Fisch has been with Arizona for the past three seasons, and turned a program around that had 12 consecutive losing seasons prior to him signing on. The Wildcats posted a 10-3 record in 2023, their best mark since 1998, along with a victory in the Alamo Bowl. Prior to his stint at Arizona, Fisch was the interim head coach for the UCLA Bruins in 2017, and also spent time in the NFL as an assistant for the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots.
