Election Results from Jasper, Newton, Pulaski, White and Benton Counties

The competitive races for county offices were on the Republican Ballot in each of these counties.  The closest race in Jasper County, was for the GOP nomination for Commissioner in District 2, where Craig Standish holds a 6 vote lead over incumbent Jeffrey DeYoung, 1617 to 1611.  We reported Tuesday night that there were 10 Provisional Ballots left to be counted for the Jasper County Primary, but that was incorrect.  Those provisional ballots were not voted in Jasper County, but rather for the Pulaski County Primary. In other Jasper County races, attorney Emily Waddle defeated Circuit Court Judge John Potter for that position, 2473 votes to 2228.  For County Auditor, the Republican nominee will be Diana Boersma, who received 2282 votes to 1126 for Treasure Gilbert and 1122 for Christina Tryon.  In the Commissioner District 1 race, Ryan Hilton received the most votes, 1635, followed by 1488 for Mike Johnson, Jeff Spurgeon II, 815 votes and 404 votes for Jennifer Grynovich.  For County Council-at-Large, voters could vote for 3 candidates, and the top three were Brian Moore 2364, Jacob Misch 2293 and Scott Walstra 2079. In Indiana, if there were no Republican or Democratic Party candidates for a particular office in the primary, party officials can still place a candidate on the ballot for the November election, but they must do so by July 3.
